Principal Software Engineer (Networking) - Platform Infra

Location: Spain

Base salary: €88,400–€119,300 per year; no variable compensation.

What you will do

• Set the technical direction for major hirify.global Cloud application networking initiatives, owning designs from proposal through general availability.
• Lead the development of large-scale ingress, private connectivity, DNS management, and security controls.
• Drive multi-quarter projects across engineering organizations and guide them through delivery.
• Investigate complex incidents, improve performance, reliability, operability, security, and cost efficiency, and participate in the on-call rotation.
• Mentor engineers, act as a subject matter expert, and advise product management and senior engineering stakeholders on technical trade-offs and roadmap direction.

Requirements

• Staff- or Principal-level experience setting technical direction for complex distributed systems operating at production scale.
• Deep expertise in application networking and cloud-native architecture, including ingress, private connectivity, DNS, and security controls.
• Experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems and high-availability SaaS platforms, with strong focus on testing, observability, and operability.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes networking, including Cilium, external-dns, Envoy Gateway, and Crossplane.
• Experience with at least one major cloud provider and its networking ecosystem: AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Ability to lead projects end to end, collaborate across teams, communicate asynchronously, and influence technical direction without formal authority.

Nice to have

• Contributions to CNCF or other open-source networking projects.
• Proven use of AI to accelerate development, debug complex systems, and optimize code.
