Research Technician (Molecular Vision Research)

Location: Auckland, New Zealand; Grafton Campus. On-campus, part-time position.

Salary: NZ$63,600–NZ$79,300 per year, depending on skills and experience.

What you will do

• Plan, set up, and deliver experiments for a Marsden-funded Molecular Vision Research Cluster project.
• Support data collection and analysis activities.
• Handle animals in accordance with approved research protocols.
• Perform lens dissection, immunohistochemistry sample preparation, and Western blot analysis.
• Support and train postgraduate students in relevant laboratory techniques.
• Maintain detailed laboratory records and collaborate with researchers across the cluster.

Requirements

• Postgraduate qualification or relevant research experience; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• Knowledge of biomedical research methodologies and laboratory techniques.
• Experience with, or willingness to undertake, animal handling.
• Strong organisation, communication, interpersonal, and workload-management skills.
• Commitment to accurate record-keeping and high standards of research practice.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
