TL;DR
Propulsion Ground Support Equipment Team Leader (Liquid Propulsion/Aerospace): Leading the development, commissioning, and operation of engine test-bench ground support equipment for cryogenic engines and storable thrusters with an accent on fluid-system architecture, high-pressure systems, safety, and test automation. Focus on managing cross-functional engineering teams, directing complex facility builds, validating hazardous-fluid infrastructure, and maintaining reliable, repeatable test conditions.

Location: Bordeaux, France. The role requires travel to test sites and partner facilities. Relocation assistance, including visa sponsorship where applicable, is provided for candidates willing to relocate.

Company

The Exploration Company develops, produces, and operates Nyx, a modular and reusable orbital vehicle for space transportation.

What you will do

  • Lead the end-to-end development, commissioning, operation, and decommissioning of propulsion test-bench ground support equipment.
  • Design high-pressure gas distribution, propellant feed, electrical, control, data acquisition, and mechanical systems.
  • Translate test-matrix requirements into hardware specifications, P&IDs, and fluid-system architectures.
  • Manage mechanical, fluid, instrumentation, DAQ, and DCS engineers and technicians across multiple test benches.
  • Oversee fabrication, tube bending, welding, mechanical assembly, proof testing, leak checks, and system commissioning.
  • Establish hazardous-fluid handling protocols and maintain configuration control, safety calculations, hazard analyses, and operating procedures.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering, or equivalent complex fluid-systems engineering experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in rocket propulsion testing, launch-pad operations, or high-pressure chemical processing plants.
  • At least 2 years of experience leading engineering or technical teams.
  • Advanced ability to develop and interpret complex P&IDs, select industrial fluid components, and use 3D CAD and fluid-simulation tools.
  • Knowledge of aerospace precision cleaning, oxygen compatibility, system passivation, hazardous-fluid handling, and risk assessment.
  • Fluent English required; willingness to travel to test sites and partner facilities is required.

Culture & Benefits

  • Agile environment with fast decision-making and clear focus on program goals and systems.
  • Open and collaborative approach to discussing risks and overcoming obstacles.
  • Opportunity to contribute to reusable space transportation and the democratisation of space.
  • Relocation assistance is available, including visa sponsorship where applicable.
  • Employment offers are conditional on a role- and country-dependent background check.
