Backend Engineer (Fintech)

Location: United States (Remote); remote-friendly within the US.

Salary: $140K–$190K plus equity.

What you will do

• Design and build backend services for a co-branded credit card product and partner integrations.
• Architect secure APIs and event-driven systems that process sensitive financial data at scale.
• Collaborate with risk, compliance, and platform teams to meet regulatory and security requirements.
• Own reliability and performance for systems processing real-time credit transactions.
• Make system design decisions balancing scalability, security, and delivery speed.
• Mentor engineers and improve code quality, testing, and operational practices.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience in backend or distributed systems development.
• Experience building and operating production-grade APIs and microservices in fintech, payments, banking, or another regulated environment.
• Proficiency with Node.js or comparable backend technologies, including TypeScript, NestJS, Go, or Java.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, AWS, cloud-native architecture, and event-driven or microservice-based systems.
• Understanding of data security, PCI compliance, or comparable standards for protecting sensitive financial data.
• Strong communication, collaboration, drive, and proactive execution.

Nice to have

• Experience with hirify.global's Node.js, TypeScript, NestJS, Kubernetes, AWS, and microservice-oriented stack.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or Cursor.
