Health Coordinator (Ebola Response): Leading and overseeing IRC’s health response to the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo with an accent on infection prevention and control, facility-based surveillance, safe referral, and continuity of essential health services. Focus on translating epidemiological and field data into program priorities, supervising technical teams across multiple sites, managing grants and budgets, and coordinating with health authorities and response partners.

Location: Bunia, Democratic Republic of the Congo; regular travel to supported health facilities, Health Zones, and Ebola response sites is required.

What you will do

  • Lead the technical direction and program oversight of IRC’s Ebola health response.
  • Guide infection prevention and control, screening, triage, temporary isolation, surveillance, occupational exposure prevention, and safe continuity of essential health services.
  • Supervise Senior IPC Managers and provide technical coaching, mentoring, and quality assurance across response sites.
  • Monitor program performance, analyze health and surveillance data, conduct field reviews, and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead health inputs into proposals, grants, budgets, procurement plans, donor reporting, and program close-out.
  • Represent IRC with the Ministry of Health, health authorities, Health Cluster structures, donors, NGOs, UN agencies, and response partners.

Requirements

  • Health professional with a strong public health background; a Master of Public Health is desirable.
  • At least 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in humanitarian or emergency health programming, including complex program management and supervision of senior technical staff.
  • Operational experience in Ebola, viral haemorrhagic fever, or a comparable infectious-disease outbreak response is strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams across multiple field locations, with strong leadership, coaching, performance-management, communication, facilitation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and routine program monitoring tools.
  • Fluency in French is required, with strong English proficiency.

  • Relevant local-language skills.
  • Master of Public Health degree.
