Director of Data Engineering

What you will do

• Define and lead a scalable data engineering strategy across Sports, Core, and R&D game portfolios.
• Modernize data infrastructure with AI-augmented processing using platforms such as Snowflake Cortex and Databricks Genie.
• Own telemetry design, implementation, and standards for high-signal, low-latency data from game clients across titles and platforms.
• Lead FinOps practices, manage cloud infrastructure budgets, and align platform investments with measurable business value.
• Design and scale ML Ops capabilities for model deployment, monitoring, iteration, and proactive modeling.
• Build partnerships with Studio Engineering, DevOps, Commercial leadership, and Product while hiring and developing a high-performing engineering organization.

Requirements

• Extensive data engineering or software engineering experience focused on high-scale distributed systems and telemetry.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams in complex, multi-title or matrix-driven environments.
• Strong knowledge of event-driven architecture, telemetry schemas, streaming services, and feature pipelines.
• Experience managing large-scale cloud budgets and applying FinOps principles to optimize performance and cost.
• Understanding of ML Ops, SRE or DevOps principles, operational excellence, automation, and reliable infrastructure scaling.
• Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with technical and business partners and expand a team’s strategic influence.

Nice to have

• Experience across the full data science and ML lifecycle, including feature engineering, deployment, and monitoring.
• Full-stack development or systems architecture background.
• Experience with Unreal Engine, Unity, or proprietary game engines and their data emission.
• Experience with Snowflake Cortex, Databricks Genie, LangChain, Rust, or similar AI-integrated data platforms.
• Passion for games and a player-focused mindset.
