Software Engineer - Backend (Product Intelligence)

Location: Based in or near Kraków, Poland; hybrid schedule with 60% of the week in the office or at local sites and the remainder remote

Salary: 20,000–25,000 PLN gross/month under a permanent employment contract

What you will do

• Develop and maintain microservices for AI-powered product categorization, enrichment, matching, and other product intelligence capabilities.
• Build event-driven services with Java, Spring Boot, Python, Apache Kafka, PostgreSQL, and PGVector.
• Contribute to multi-agent systems and product matching using text and image similarity techniques.
• Design for scalability and reliability while processing more than one million events per week.
• Collaborate with product managers and data scientists to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Contribute to Azure infrastructure, Terraform-based infrastructure as code, architectural discussions, system integrations, and engineering standards.

Requirements

• Solid experience with Java and Spring Boot for enterprise-grade applications.
• Basic Python knowledge and a good understanding of event-driven architecture and Apache Kafka.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Azure, and familiarity with Kubernetes.
• Working knowledge of PostgreSQL, NoSQL databases, RESTful API design, and microservices architecture.
• Understanding of CI/CD, testing, code review, and distributed systems.
• Ability to work from or near Kraków and attend the office or local sites three days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, vector databases, PGVector, machine learning, or computer vision.
• Experience with Terraform, Couchbase, AI-powered or multi-agent applications.
• Knowledge of retail or e-commerce, data quality, and governance principles.
