Software Engineer (Java)

Salary: Minimum EUR 51,134 gross per year; actual compensation depends on professional and personal qualifications.

What you will do

• Design and extend ANTLR4 grammars, lexers, parsers, ASTs, and IR models for translating legacy Natural source code into modern Java Spring Boot applications.
• Develop and maintain Java translation pipelines, including AST-to-IR mapping, lowering passes, code generators, and REST APIs.
• Build unit and integration tests to verify generated Java code compilation, behavior, and translation correctness.
• Trace and resolve defects such as malformed generated code and incorrect type or naming mappings.
• Support Maven builds, CI pipelines, source-control integration, and operational readiness for downstream teams.

Requirements

• Professional Java development experience in a Spring Boot codebase.
• Strong understanding of software design principles, algorithms, and data structures.
• Experience with REST APIs, service integration, Git, collaborative development, and automated testing.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills for multi-stage data pipelines.
• Understanding of secure software development practices.
• Ability to collaborate with architects and stakeholders and reason about unfamiliar or legacy source languages.

Nice to have

• Experience with ANTLR4 or other parser generators, lexers, parsers, grammars, and abstract syntax trees.
• Experience with transpilers, compilers, static analysis tools, intermediate representations, or multi-pass transformation pipelines.
• Familiarity with Natural/Adabas, COBOL, CI/CD automation, cloud-native environments, or containerization.
• Knowledge of ITIL-based operations, production support, and monitoring.
