Mid-Level Data Engineer (Databricks/dbt)

Location: On-site in the Romania office; locations include Bucharest, Târgoviște, Voluntari, Buftea, and Ploiești. The first month is spent in London for onboarding. Candidates must have the right to work in Romania.

What you will do

• Establish and deliver the Romanian data platform using Databricks, dbt, and Looker.
• Own production pipelines, dbt models, and reporting across finance and operational data sources.
• Automate accounts receivable, overdue, consolidation, property P&L, and supplier reporting.
• Integrate Excel, Power BI, Charisma, finance systems, and other operational sources.
• Translate business needs from finance and asset management teams into reliable technical solutions.
• Mentor the graduate engineer and help establish local technical standards.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of commercial experience as a data or analytics engineer.
• Advanced SQL, data modelling, and production ELT/ETL pipeline experience.
• At least 2 years of advanced dbt experience or a strong comparable substitute such as Dataform or SQLMesh.
• Experience with Databricks or comparable warehouse and lakehouse technologies, plus Looker/LookML or Power BI/Tableau.
• Experience with API and system integrations, including ERP, finance, or operational systems.
• Ability to work on-site in the Romania office, spend the first month in London, and hold the right to work in Romania.

Nice to have

• Experience with finance reporting, accounts receivable, consolidation, P&L, supplier reporting, or ERP data.
• Experience migrating Power BI, Excel, or legacy reporting.
• Azure experience, with AWS or GCP as alternatives.
• Mentoring, code review, onboarding, or informal technical leadership experience.
