What you will do

  • Nurture tamariki aged 7 months to 6 years in a teacher-led Kōhanga Reo environment.
  • Use and strengthen te reo Māori and tikanga Māori in everyday learning.
  • Build meaningful, authentic relationships with tamariki and whānau.
  • Apply ECE theory and Te Whāriki in learning practice.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team grounded in whanaungatanga, manaakitanga, and collective success.

Requirements

  • Recognised New Zealand ECE or primary teaching qualification and current teacher registration.
  • Experience as a qualified Kaiako.
  • Understanding of Te Kōhanga Reo kaupapa, Te Korowai, and Te Whāriki ā Te Kōhanga Reo.
  • Commitment to te reo Māori, tikanga Māori, and kaupapa Māori education.
  • Professionalism, initiative, warmth, and the ability to collaborate with tamariki and whānau.

Nice to have

  • Competency in te reo Māori me ōna tikanga.
  • Professional or lived experience connected to te ao Māori.
