Staff Frontend UX Platform Engineer (React)

Location: San Francisco, CA or Seattle, WA; candidates must be based in the San Francisco or Seattle area. The San Francisco role requires working in the office two days per week. R&D roles follow a hybrid model with office presence in San Francisco.

What you will do

• Lead the architecture and evolution of the frontend UX platform, including shared components, design system foundations, and developer tooling.
• Build product experiences and reusable infrastructure with TypeScript and React.
• Design and integrate Python and FastAPI APIs that support user-facing experiences.
• Establish standards for accessibility, performance, testing, and frontend maintainability.
• Partner with design, product, and engineering teams to turn complex healthcare workflows into intuitive interfaces.
• Mentor engineers, review technical designs, and drive improvements across teams.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including substantial frontend application development at scale.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript, and React.
• Experience leading frontend architecture or platform work across multiple teams.
• Good judgment in creating shared abstractions that remain useful as products grow.
• Experience collaborating with designers and product partners on user-facing work.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to lead through code and technical guidance.

Nice to have

• Experience with Python and FastAPI.
• Experience working at a health-tech startup.
• Familiarity with FHIR and HL7.
