TL;DR
Data Science Consultant (Pharma R&D) (AI-driven precision medicine and CMC): Delivering scientific consulting, business process analysis, solution design, and data science projects for biopharma R&D using Genedata Profiler and Genedata Vico, with an accent on multi-omics, biomarkers, clinical data, and CMC processes. Focus on scoping customer projects, translating complex scientific concepts into clear value, designing reusable use cases, and supporting AI/ML solutions across drug R&D.
Location: Tokyo, Japan. Regular travel to customer sites within Japan, with occasional travel to Genedata headquarters in Europe and the United States.

What you will do
- Provide scientific consulting, business process analysis, and solution design for Genedata Profiler and Genedata Vico implementation projects.
- Scope and execute customer data science projects and deliver results and presentations.
- Build customer relationships and act as the primary contact for scientific and technical matters.
- Collaborate with Business Account Management on opportunity qualification, proposals, workshops, demonstrations, and account expansion.
- Bring customer evidence to Product Management to inform reusable use cases, roadmap priorities, and product positioning.
Requirements
- PhD or Master’s degree with industry experience in bioinformatics, data science, life sciences, or a related scientific discipline.
- Strong experience in biopharma R&D, preferably in translational sciences, multi-omics, biomarkers, clinical data, or CMC development.
- Customer-facing experience with workshop facilitation, project scoping, stakeholder coordination, and scientific consulting.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to explain complex scientific concepts clearly.
- Native Japanese or JLPT N1-level Japanese and business-level English are required.
Nice to have
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or R.
- Experience developing AI/ML solutions for biopharma R&D, laboratory automation, or CMC.
- Experience identifying and developing new business opportunities with commercial teams.
