TL;DR
Analyst, Global Investment Banking (M&A and Capital Markets): Supporting mergers and acquisitions mandates through financial modeling, valuation, industry research, transaction execution, and preparation of client materials with an accent on sell-side and buy-side transactions, due diligence, and sophisticated financial analysis. Focus on developing and auditing financial models, analyzing comparable companies and precedent transactions, and coordinating cross-functional work under demanding deadlines.

Location: On-site full-time in Toronto, Canada at 161 Bay St.

Annual base salary: $105,000, plus participation in an annual discretionary incentive or bonus program.

What you will do

  • Support merger, acquisition, divestiture, joint venture, takeover, buyout, restructuring, and fairness opinion assignments.
  • Analyze and develop client proposals for transactions and financial products.
  • Build and audit sophisticated financial models, valuation analyses, industry comparables, and precedent transaction analyses.
  • Conduct industry research, financial analysis, and company due diligence to support client recommendations.
  • Prepare confidential offering memoranda, presentations, and other transaction marketing materials.
  • Collaborate with internal product groups, relationship managers, clients, and external stakeholders throughout transaction execution.

Requirements

  • Previous investment banking or M&A transaction advisory experience is required.
  • Undergraduate degree in Finance or Engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of valuation techniques, accounting principles, financial statement preparation, and business combinations.
  • Technical proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Bloomberg, FactSet, and applicable financial software.
  • Excellent analytical, written, oral, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work under pressure and manage competing deadlines.
  • Legal eligibility to work in Canada is required; a valid work or study permit may be required.

Nice to have

  • Detailed professional-level knowledge of Canadian M&A processes across different mandate types.
  • Completion of a CPA or CFA.
  • Experience liaising with equivalent professionals on the client side.
