Development Tools Software Engineer (Silicon)

Location: Guadalajara, Mexico. Hybrid work model with time split between the assigned Intel site and off-site work. Permanent, unrestricted right to work in Mexico is required; visa or immigration sponsorship is not available.

Develops software tools and systems supporting silicon design, manufacturing, validation, debug, and system integration for internal engineering teams and external technology partners.

What you will do

• Develop and enhance software tools for silicon debug, validation, and manufacturing test processes.
• Integrate and debug hardware-software solutions involving JTAG, I3C, SMBus, and silicon TAP topology.
• Debug software issues, perform developer-owned validation, and create functional documentation.
• Provide technical support, identify root causes of silicon power-on issues, and collaborate with validation engineers and external customers.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and contribute to Scrum and Kanban development processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience in object-oriented software development and debugging.
• 4+ years of experience with hardware-software integration and debug.
• Programming experience with Python, C, and C++, plus version control using Git or GitHub.
• Advanced English skills and unrestricted, permanent authorization to work in Mexico.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with an interest in Intel Architecture and silicon debug.

Nice to have

• Experience with stakeholder requirement elicitation and simulation frameworks.
• Familiarity with Intel validation tools and processes.
• Knowledge of MBIST, scan dump, JTAG, I3C, or silicon TAP topology.
• Experience working with Silicon Validation teams.
