Deputy Manager, Infrastructure Operations (Narvik) (AI)

Location: Onsite in Narvik, Norway; relocation to and residence in Narvik required. Monday–Friday office hours with an alternating weekly on-call rotation.

What you will do

• Own day-to-day onsite operations and act as the operational decision-maker during the day shift.
• Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of HPC and GPU systems with the engineering team.
• Coordinate engineers, operators, partner staff, vendors, and deployment handovers.
• Maintain site documentation, standard operating procedures, and training materials.
• Organise rota and absence cover, provide guidance to junior team members, and deputise for the Infrastructure Operations Manager.
• Join the weekly on-call rotation, coordinate P1/P2 incident responses, and contribute to root cause analysis and follow-up actions.

Requirements

• Proven operational experience in a data centre environment with strong technical understanding of site operations.
• Strong working knowledge of HPC and GPU installations, including hardware configuration and network architecture.
• Advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills, with sound escalation judgement.
• Ability to coordinate teams and influence others without formal authority.
• Willingness to relocate to and live in Narvik, Norway, and work onsite.
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and work in a fast-moving scale-up environment.

Nice to have

• Team coordination or leadership experience, including rota and absence management.
• Data centre management certifications such as CDCP or CDCS.
• Hands-on experience with NVIDIA GPUs, CUDA, and AI frameworks.
• Experience working with third-party or partner staff onsite.
• Norwegian language skills.
