Infrastructure Engineer (Microsoft)

Location: Fully remote, with a requirement to be within reasonable travel distance to Portsmouth for occasional visits to physical infrastructure and data centres. An optional hybrid model is available at the Cosham office; travel to south of England data centre locations is required.

Salary: £55,000–£60,000 per year

What you will do

• Manage and improve hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructure across internal operations.
• Serve as the technical escalation point for the IT Support team and resolve complex infrastructure issues.
• Monitor and improve the availability, performance, and security of infrastructure services.
• Automate infrastructure operations using tools such as Terraform and PowerShell.
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation and operational procedures.
• Support physical infrastructure and data centre environments in southern England.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of infrastructure engineering experience supporting Microsoft technologies.
• Advanced Microsoft 365 administration skills, including Intune and Entra ID.
• Experience with hybrid cloud environments, ideally Azure, plus Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, subnetting, and identity lifecycle management.
• Deep expertise in at least one area including Windows Server and IIS, networking, x86 server hardware, or infrastructure automation.
• At least 2 years of experience acting as a technical escalation point for first- and second-line IT support teams.
• A driving licence and access to a vehicle are required for travel to south of England data centre locations.

Nice to have

• Experience with Azure, Cloudflare, Mimecast, or Zscaler.
• Familiarity with ISO 27001, PCI DSS, SOC 2, or similar security frameworks.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, project delivery, and collaboration skills.
