Operations Associate - Payments

Location: United States (Remote)

Salary: $35–$40 per hour; the listed salary range is $30–$40 USD per hour. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).

What you will do

• Own the payment support ticket queue and communicate with expert contributors about payment issues, discrepancies, and disputes.
• Audit contributor data and complex payment systems, including dynamic bonus and incentive structures.
• Resolve payment disputes clearly and professionally, escalating sensitive or complex cases when needed.
• Build and maintain SQL queries, scripts, automations, and payment audit dashboards to reduce manual investigation work.
• Collaborate with Delivery, Operations, Finance, and Engineering to troubleshoot discrepancies and improve payment workflows.
• Maintain payment compliance and data traceability for operations, audit, and accounting purposes.

Requirements

• 2–3 years of experience in customer support, payments, payroll, or finance operations, preferably involving variable or incentive-based compensation.
• Exposure to 1099 gig contractor compliance, payment strategy, incentive programs, compensation cycles, payment schedules, or contractor invoicing.
• Experience handling customer-facing communications, including sensitive or disputed payment conversations.
• Technical proficiency in SQL, advanced Google Sheets formulas, scripting or automation such as Google Apps Script, and reporting or visualization.
• Experience with Airtable or Zapier and reporting tools such as Looker, Tableau, or Omni.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience; strong organization and communication skills are required.

Nice to have

• Understanding of generative AI data workflows, including annotation, labeling, prompt design, fine-tuning, or evaluation.
• Experience in data operations, expert networks, or human-in-the-loop systems.
