Backend Software Engineer (Agentic AI)

What you will do

• Architect and maintain agentic AI infrastructure for orchestration, session handling, state management, and backend service interfaces.
• Design tool integrations and MCP servers with clear boundaries and comprehensive error recovery.
• Implement end-to-end tracing and observability for model calls, retrieval, and tool execution using OpenTelemetry GenAI standards.
• Build evaluation suites, benchmarks, regression tests, and internal harnesses for validating model and behavioral changes.
• Investigate runtime failures, loops, context degradation, and hallucinated outputs through deep-dive root cause analysis.
• Enforce guardrails, cost thresholds, RBAC permissions, output schemas, and human-in-the-loop validation triggers.

Requirements

• Strong software engineering expertise in a modern programming language, with solid foundations in algorithms, data structures, memory allocation, and concurrency.
• Practical experience with REST or gRPC APIs, databases, caching, message queues, distributed systems, Git, automated testing, and CI/CD.
• Comprehensive understanding of LLM mechanics, including context windows, tokenization, function calling, non-determinism, and hallucination management.
• Experience delivering technical projects in production, academic work, open source, or side projects, supported by methodical debugging and technical documentation skills.
• Engineering excellence is required at every level; candidates may range from early-career developers to senior engineers and software architects.

Nice to have

• Experience prototyping applications with LLM APIs, MCP, or custom tool integrations.
• Knowledge of vector database indexing, embeddings, and retrieval-augmented generation pipelines.
• Experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, telemetry, or infrastructure-as-code tooling.
• Knowledge of GenAI security, prompt-injection mitigation, and threat modeling.
• Open-source contributions or community engagement.
