What you will do
- Conduct pre-employment, placement, transfer, periodic, and exit medical examinations.
- Perform baseline health assessments and medical surveillance to determine fitness for duty and identify occupational health risks.
- Identify affected employees, arrange referrals, and support early intervention for injuries and occupational diseases.
- Prepare medical reports, maintain accurate records, and present recommendations to line management.
- Contribute health expertise to incident investigations and implement workplace health promotion activities.
- Apply organisational safety and health standards to support zero-harm operations.
Requirements
- Grade 12 and a Diploma or Degree in Nursing.
- Diploma or B-Tech in Occupational Health Nursing and current registration with the South African Nursing Council.
- Basic Life Support and Dispensing certificates.
- Certificates in Audiometry, Spirometry, and Vision screening.
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar role, with strong computer literacy and knowledge of relevant mining and labour legislation.
- Strong communication, documentation, prioritisation, counselling, and time-management skills.
Nice to have
- Previous mining-sector experience.
- QMED experience.
- Registration with the South African Society for Occupational Health Nursing.
