Optical Assistant (Retinal Screening)

What you will do

• Perform eye photography to help identify retinal damage caused by diabetes.
• Support delivery of the national diabetic eye screening programme in Kells and surrounding counties.
• Provide customer care and contribute to positive patient outcomes.
• Work alongside Senior Diabetic Retinal Technicians, Team Leaders, administrators, the programme manager, and clinical lead.
• Develop specialist knowledge of diabetic retinopathy with support from the professional team.

Requirements

• No previous experience is required.
• Full clean Irish driving licence and a safe place to store the company vehicle required.
• IT literacy, including word processing, spreadsheets, and regular use of Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication, organisation, prioritisation, initiative, and problem-solving skills.
• Proactive approach and ability to work largely unsupervised after initial training.
• Pre-existing right to work and travel within the EU is required; documentary evidence must be provided.
