Senior Mechanical & Structural Engineer (Satellite Platform)

Location: Barcelona, Spain; hybrid role with regular on-site presence at the Barcelona HQ. Relocation to Barcelona is possible, and travel to external test facilities and launch campaigns is required.

What you will do

• Own the satellite platform's mechanical and structural design, including architecture, mechanical ICDs, drawings, and configuration control.
• Define and manage structural analysis plans, review results, perform analyses when needed, and develop in-house analysis models, tools, and processes.
• Define mechanical verification requirements and vibration campaigns, co-author procedures with the AIT team, supervise testing, and deliver post-test engineering.
• Follow structural component manufacturing and sourcing through platform assembly and launcher integration.
• Lead mechanical design for future satellite platform generations.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 8+ years of mechanical and structural engineering experience with spacecraft hardware.
• Experience delivering at least one satellite platform structure end to end, from design and analysis through manufacturing, AIT, environmental testing, and launch.
• Hands-on CAD design experience with SolidWorks or an equivalent tool, including flight-hardware drawings and mechanical ICDs.
• Hands-on structural analysis of spacecraft structures using FEM tools such as Nastran, ANSYS, Abaqus, or an equivalent, covering static, modal, and random vibration analysis.
• Professional working proficiency in English.
• Based in Barcelona or willing to relocate, with regular on-site attendance required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of ECSS-E-ST-32 and ECSS-E-ST-10-03 standards.
• Experience with mechanisms, deployables, micro-vibration for optical equipment, MGSE, or cleanroom integration.
• Knowledge of small-satellite launcher interfaces, propulsion subsystem mechanical interfaces, or thermo-elastic analysis.
• Experience with PDM/PLM tools.
