What you will do
- Lead technical discussions focused on service reliability, scalability, technical debt, and operational toil.
- Contribute to high-level designs for new products and platforms.
- Lead incident response and post-mortem activities for assigned services.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineers to improve service stability and production readiness.
- Write code and implement automation to improve reliability and reduce ongoing toil.
- Mentor junior Site Reliability Engineering staff.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in software development and/or Linux systems administration.
- Professional experience as a Linux production systems engineer managing large-scale web services infrastructure.
- Development experience with Python, Bash, Go, Java, C++, or Rust; Python is preferred.
- Experience with at least three relevant areas, including distributed storage, NoSQL, data aggregation, highly available relational databases, monitoring and alerting, Kubernetes, AWS, software distribution, or configuration management.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Availability to participate in an on-call rotation.
Nice to have
- Experience with software performance analysis and load testing, including QA or SDET experience.
