Engagement and Growth Summer Intern

Location: New York, United States; minimum three days per week in the office. The ten-week internship runs from June 7, 2027 to August 13, 2027. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US.

Salary: $22 per hour for 40 hours per week.

What you will do

• Develop engagement ideas, experiments, and social media strategies for planned news events, breaking news, and special projects.
• Assist with social media publishing and keep channels current with the news agenda.
• Produce original social content, including charts, social cards, and videos, to promote FT journalism.
• Support reader engagement and community participation projects.
• Analyze audience behavior and use data insights to inform journalism and engagement decisions.
• Provide SEO and social trends guidance and produce panels for Google Showcase.

Requirements

• Experience in journalism, including student publications, with good news judgment.
• Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
• Organization, curiosity, and the ability to balance multiple projects.
• Interest in making journalism accessible across multiple platforms.
• US work authorization and availability for the full internship period are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with design tools such as Adobe Suite or similar.
• Video editing experience.
• Knowledge of business and economics.
