Staff Software Engineer, Data Platform (AI)

Location: Seattle, United States

Salary: $200,000–$260,000 per year, plus equity and bonus opportunities.

What you will do

• Own the strategy, architecture, development, and operation of data and AI platforms.
• Identify and solve company-wide challenges using advanced data platform solutions.
• Provide technical direction and lead hands-on resolution of complex architecture and engineering problems.
• Establish data platform best practices and promote technical craftsmanship and innovation.
• Mentor data platform engineers and support their technical and professional development.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of experience in data platforms or an equivalent combination of work and academic experience in a quantitative field.
• Experience leading company-wide initiatives across multiple teams and influencing technology roadmaps.
• Technical leadership experience across ETL frameworks, metrics stores, infrastructure management, and data security.
• Experience building, deploying, and maintaining reliable multi-geographical data pipelines at scale.
• Familiarity with workflow and orchestration frameworks such as Airflow or dbt.
• Strong collaboration, research, statistical reasoning, scalable design, communication, and mentoring skills.

Nice to have

• Experience designing data-processing patterns for modern Lakehouse architectures.
• Experience with GCP, Databricks, BigQuery, DataProc, Kafka, Kubernetes, Spark, DataFlow, Google Cloud Storage, and Airflow.
• Experience developing high-performance services, standard framework modules, or client libraries for big data.
• Experience evaluating technologies and running proofs of concept to guide architecture decisions.
