HPC and AI Performance Engineer (HPC/AI)

Location: Hybrid, with an average requirement of two days per week in an HPE office; position listed for the United States of America, including Minnesota and Texas.

Salary: USD 105,500–243,000 annual base salary in Minnesota and Texas. Variable incentives may also be offered.

What you will do

• Benchmark scientific ISV and open-source applications used across the HPC community.
• Optimize HPC benchmarks on HPE systems for customer proposals and internal product decisions.
• Analyze compute, memory, accelerator, interconnect, MPI, and I/O bottlenecks.
• Assess performance across current and future HPC architectures and system configurations.
• Collaborate with HPE teams and external technical peers to improve benchmark performance.
• Provide technical guidance on benchmarking and performance optimization to Sales, Marketing, and Development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related technical field; a Master’s degree or PhD is preferred.
• 6–10 years of experience and academic or industry experience in HPC.
• Experience evaluating, tuning, and optimizing computational applications on Linux-based HPC systems.
• Knowledge of MPI, OpenMP, C, C++, Fortran, Python, shell scripting, Linux, and performance profiling or debugging tools.
• Understanding of CPUs, GPUs, accelerators, CUDA, OpenACC, MPI implementations, parallel file systems, and large-scale application benchmarking.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to deliver under demanding deadlines.
