Senior Java Backend Developer - Cloud-Native Microservices & Cryptography

Location: Hybrid role based in El Prat de Llobregat, Spain. Working hours are Monday–Thursday 8:30–17:30 and Friday 8:30–15:30, with a flexible start time.

What you will do

• Lead the end-to-end development and maintenance of Trusted Service Manager backend services and cloud-native microservices.
• Design and optimize Java applications using Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Data, and Spring Boot Actuator.
• Build API-first services with REST and OpenAPI, and deploy them using Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tooling.
• Implement PKI workflows, X.509 certificate lifecycle management, encryption, signing, and secure key management.
• Design MongoDB data models and access layers for scalable, high-performance storage.
• Drive TDD, BDD, unit, integration, end-to-end, SAST, and DAST testing while contributing to observability and mentoring team members.

Requirements

• University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, with extensive senior Java backend development experience.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Data, microservices, MongoDB, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Strong knowledge of RESTful services, OpenAPI/Swagger, API-first design, and enterprise-grade high-availability systems.
• Deep understanding of cryptography, PKI, X.509 certificates, secure key management, and cryptographic protocols.
• Experience with Scrum, TDD, BDD, automated testing, SAST, DAST, and DevOps tools including Git, Jenkins, Maven, Nexus, and SonarQube.
• Fluent English, spoken and written, is required.

Nice to have

• Experience developing SDKs for external integrations.
• Knowledge of mobile or desktop client development interacting with backend APIs.
• Background in financial services, payment systems, or digital currency projects.
