TL;DR
Software Engineer (Gen AI/Python): Building, deploying, and maintaining scalable Generative AI applications and services for Caterpillar’s digital products with an accent on LLMs, prompt engineering, cloud-native development, and production reliability. Focus on developing FastAPI services, implementing AWS infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines, and designing AI workflows with LangChain, Airflow, and retrieval-augmented or agent-based patterns.
Location: Kosice, Slovakia
Salary: €32,976.00 base minimum pay annually; 3000+ euros gross per month

What you will do
- Develop, deploy, maintain, and support Generative AI applications and services using Python and object-oriented programming.
- Build and test cloud-native AI solutions and deploy them on AWS using infrastructure-as-code approaches such as CloudFormation.
- Develop backend APIs and services with FastAPI and maintain AI workflows and data pipelines with Apache Airflow.
- Implement and monitor CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions or similar tools.
- Apply LLM concepts, prompt engineering, RAG, and agent-based workflows to business challenges.
- Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, developers, and business stakeholders on reliable and scalable production solutions.
Requirements
- Experience developing software with strong knowledge of object-oriented programming principles.
- Experience developing applications in Python and familiarity with REST APIs and backend frameworks such as FastAPI.
- Understanding of software architecture, integration patterns, cloud-native application development, software development life cycle, and agile methodologies.
- Interest in Generative AI, LLMs, and prompt engineering, with strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment and contribute to design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
Nice to have
- Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, or similar Generative AI frameworks.
- Experience with Git, GitHub Actions, AWS services such as SageMaker Studio, Lambda, API Gateway, and RDS.
- Knowledge of CloudFormation, Apache Airflow, RAG, agent-based workflows, and prompt engineering.
- Technical documentation and writing skills.
