Payroll Specialist (AI)

Location: On-site in the Almaty office, Kazakhstan

What you will do

• Run the full payroll cycle, including salaries, bonuses, vacation pay, sick leave, severance, per diems, benefits, reimbursements, and travel expenses.
• Calculate and control individual income tax, pension, social, medical insurance, and other statutory contributions.
• Prepare and file Form 200.00 and reconcile payroll data with tax authority records.
• Close payroll monthly, including accruals, vacation provisions, unused vacation reserves, general ledger reconciliation, and management reporting data.
• Allocate payroll costs by department and project and respond to finance team queries.
• Support payroll-related audits and tax inspections and answer employee questions about calculations, deductions, and certificates.

Requirements

• 3+ years of dedicated payroll experience.
• Strong knowledge of the Kazakhstan Labour Code and Tax Code, including current payroll rates and thresholds.
• Track record of accurate Form 200.00 filings without corrections or penalties.
• Hands-on experience with 1C: ZUP or 1C: Accounting for Kazakhstan, including configuring earning types.
• Fluent Russian and English.
• Attention to detail and ownership of payroll accuracy.

Nice to have

• Payroll experience for a foreign entity and contractors working under invoices.
• Understanding of IFRS requirements for employee benefits.
• Experience with payroll automation or system migrations.
• Knowledge of Astana Hub preferences and taxation of non-residents.
