Experimental Biologist (AI)

Location: Remote; must be based in the United States, Canada, or the United Kingdom. Ireland and Australia may also be accepted.

Salary: $40–$75+ per hour, depending on task difficulty and specialization.

What you will do

• Design realistic experimental-biology tasks based on laboratory workflows, including scenarios, prompts, plate maps, instrument outputs, images, protocols, and QC records.
• Run tasks through AI agents and evaluate QC summaries, experimental plans, and troubleshooting memos against professional standards.
• Write grading rubrics covering controls, excluded wells, failure diagnoses, and required deliverable content.
• Identify evidence-based failures such as missed controls, edge effects, outliers, incorrect normalization, unsupported troubleshooting, and fabricated values.
• Apply expertise in molecular and cell biology, protein biochemistry, immunology, flow cytometry, imaging, histology, microbiology, virology, in vivo research, preclinical work, lab operations, or analytical sciences.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience designing and running experiments in a pharma, biotech, or academic research laboratory after undergraduate study.
• Deep expertise in at least one relevant experimental-biology discipline.
• Hands-on experience designing and troubleshooting experiments, interpreting controls, and diagnosing failed runs.
• Experience generating and quality-controlling primary data and assessing raw instrument output.
• Master’s degree, PhD, or current PhD candidacy in biology or a related field, completed in the United States, Canada, Europe, or the United Kingdom.
• Must be based in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, or Australia. Clear written English and familiarity with AI tools such as Claude or ChatGPT are required.
