Computational Biologist (AI)

Location: Remote; candidates must be based in the United States, Canada, or the UK. Ireland and Australia may also be accepted.

Salary: $40–$75+ per hour, depending on task difficulty and specialization.

What you will do

• Design realistic biological data analysis tasks using scenarios, prompts, datasets, metadata, pipeline logs, and notebooks from professional workflows.
• Run tasks through frontier AI agents and evaluate analysis reports, annotated tables, figures, and notebooks against professional standards.
• Write grading rubrics covering normalization, multiple-testing correction, statistical validity, and biological interpretation.
• Identify concrete failures such as ignored batch effects, incorrect statistical tests, outdated references, dropped samples, and misleading code.
• Apply expertise in genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, multiomics, population genetics, or machine learning for biology.

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on experience analyzing real biological data after undergraduate study.
• Ability to write, debug, and explain analysis code in Python or R; experience with both is preferred.
• End-to-end ownership of multistep analyses, from raw or messy data through final interpretation.
• Master’s degree, PhD, or current PhD candidacy in biology, bioinformatics, biostatistics, computer science, or a related field, completed in the U.S., Canada, Europe, or the UK.
• Must be based in the United States, Canada, or the UK; Ireland and Australia may also be accepted.
• Clear written English and familiarity with AI/LLM tools such as Claude or ChatGPT.

Nice to have

• Expertise in clinical genomics, metagenomics, or phylogenetics.
• Experience across multiple biological data domains and analysis approaches.
