Hardware Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote; applicants must be based in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, or the United States.

Salary: $40–$125+ per hour, depending on task difficulty and specialization.

What you will do

• Design realistic engineering problems based on professional hardware experience, including circuit specifications, control-loop stabilization, and power-stage sizing.
• Run engineering problems through frontier AI models and evaluate the results against professional standards.
• Compare model versions using identical prompts and identify where each model succeeds or falls short.
• Review model-generated derivations, schematics, component selections, and calculations.
• Document failures such as incorrect assumptions, sign or unit errors, unphysical results, invalid topologies, fabricated datasheet values, and off-brief interpretations.

Requirements

• Native- or bilingual-level English fluency.
• At least 2 years of industry experience in circuit or electronics engineering.
• Background in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Strong command of circuit analysis, design trade-offs, and component-level and system-level decisions.
• Ability to explain why an answer is incorrect, not only identify that it is incorrect.
• Working comfort with AI tools or the ability to learn them quickly.

Nice to have

• Current, in-progress, or completed Bachelor's degree.
• Experience as a Hardware Engineer, PCB Design Engineer, or FPGA Engineer.
• Expertise in analog, RF, mixed-signal circuits, electromagnetics, antennas, control and systems, devices and materials, signal processing, photonics, power, or energy systems.
