ML Evaluation & Data Systems Engineering — Master's/Doctorate-Level Postgraduate Internship (AI)

Location: HSITP Innovation Park, Hong Kong. Must be based in Hong Kong or able to work from Hong Kong and legally eligible to work there.

What you will do

• Design evaluation frameworks, multilingual benchmarks, and automated and human-review workflows for large language models and localization systems.
• Develop multilingual test datasets and data pipelines for ingestion, cleaning, validation, annotation, version control, model evaluation, and continuous improvement.
• Implement experiment-tracking systems and audit logs covering model versions, prompts, configurations, datasets, outputs, reviewer feedback, and quality scores.
• Build dashboards and reports for technical teams, management, pilot partners, and other stakeholders.
• Apply statistical methods to compare model versions and monitor quality, degradation, inconsistency, bias, hallucination, safety, latency, and cultural relevance.
• Document architectures, methodologies, data lineage, technical decisions, results, and recommended improvements while collaborating with applied AI engineers.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a master's or doctorate program in computer science, AI, machine learning, data science, data engineering, statistics, software engineering, information systems, or a related field.
• Strong Python programming skills and proficiency in SQL, with experience handling structured and unstructured datasets.
• Understanding of machine learning, data pipelines, model evaluation, or analytical methods.
• Familiarity with large language models, natural language processing, transformer-based systems, or generative AI.
• Must be based in Hong Kong or able to work from Hong Kong and legally eligible to work in Hong Kong.
• Strong analytical, organizational, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaborate with a distributed multidisciplinary team.

Nice to have

• Experience with model evaluation, experiment design, statistical testing, benchmarking, or human-evaluation methods.
• Familiarity with databases, APIs, cloud environments, data visualization, dashboard-development tools, or MLOps platforms.
• Experience with MLflow, Weights & Biases, DVC, Airflow, Prefect, or comparable technologies.
• Understanding of data lineage, model observability, data governance, responsible AI, or auditability.
• Professional proficiency in Cantonese or Mandarin and experience with multilingual data or language-based AI systems.
