Software Engineer (New Grad) (Machine Learning)

Location: Remote within Canada or the United States; availability for meetings during 9am-3pm Pacific Time, Monday-Friday

Salary: US applicants: $97,600-$139,000 USD plus equity and benefits. Toronto and Vancouver applicants: $125,320-$142,783 CAD plus equity and benefits. Other Canadian locations: $116,965-$133,264 CAD plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Build and maintain core infrastructure for hirify.global's machine learning platform.
• Develop distributed systems serving large recommendation models and large language models in production.
• Optimize GPU model-serving latency, throughput, reliability, and cost.
• Contribute to PyTorch-first standardization and modernization of the ML ecosystem.
• Build tooling that improves how ML engineers develop, test, and deploy models, and modernize the feature store.
• Participate in the on-call rotation and help resolve production issues.

Requirements

• Must be able to work remotely from Canada or the United States.
• Must be available for coordination hours from 9am to 3pm Pacific Time, Monday-Friday.
• Expected to graduate in 2025 or 2026, or be pursuing a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Knowledge of Python, Go, or C++, or the ability to learn them quickly.
• Genuine interest in large-scale distributed systems, infrastructure, and machine learning.
• Previous software engineering experience through an internship, employment, open-source contribution, or coding competition.

Nice to have

• Coursework or hands-on experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Exposure to Kubernetes, Docker, or AWS.
• Experience with profiling, benchmarking, or other low-level performance optimization.
• Passion for hirify.global's mission and goals.
