What you will do
- Provide inpatient care and outpatient triage for liver, kidney, and pancreas transplant recipients.
- Manage patients during initial transplant admissions and readmissions within the first year after transplantation.
- Conduct health histories, physical examinations, clinical assessments, and direct patient care.
- Prescribe or order medications, therapies, laboratory tests, imaging, and procedures within clinical privileges.
- Educate patients, families, staff, and students while collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in quality improvement, research, committees, and continuing education initiatives.
Requirements
- Master’s degree from an accredited nursing or Physician Assistant program.
- Acute care certification is required for APRNs; inpatient NP experience may be accepted instead.
- Current Illinois licensure is required for the applicable APRN, Registered Nurse, or Physician Assistant pathway.
- National APRN certification, medical staff privileging and credentialing, and eligibility for controlled substance and DEA licensing as applicable.
- Basic Life Support certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Ability to work four ten-hour day shifts, with weekend coverage approximately every fourth weekend and holiday coverage for two to three holidays annually.
