Senior Software Engineer - Fern (AI)

Location: New York City, United States; in-office five days per week

Base salary: $200,000–$250,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Build APIs, AI infrastructure, and developer experiences used by millions of people.
• Scale AI systems deployed on Vercel, AWS, and Turbopuffer for performance, reliability, and security under real-world load.
• Work directly with API teams at companies including Nvidia, Twilio, and Square.
• Debug production edge cases, incorporate customer feedback into API design, and ship improvements quickly.
• Collaborate with product designers and frontend engineers using TypeScript and Next.js to create polished interfaces.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for solving technical problems with customers.
• Experience building developer-focused products and attention to developer experience quality.
• Commitment to working in the New York City office five days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience building with TypeScript.
• Open-source development experience.
