Health & Benefits Consultant

Location: Chicago, United States; hybrid work with at least three days per week in the office or onsite with clients

Base salary: $68,500–$137,000 per year, plus potential performance-based incentives.

What you will do

• Lead or participate in client engagements covering health and welfare plan strategy, financial evaluations, plan design, renewals, placement, and benchmarking.
• Develop cost projections and evaluate vendor renewal proposals for medical, dental, life, and disability benefit programs.
• Analyze claims and utilization data, identify trends, and build self-funded claims projections, rates, and employee cost-sharing scenarios.
• Review compliance requirements, vendor contracts, summary plan documents, and employee communications.
• Manage day-to-day client relationships, resolve project questions, and guide junior staff in client interactions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in any relevant field.
• At least 2 years of experience designing, recommending, and implementing solutions to complex healthcare benefits challenges.
• Experience in a client-facing consulting environment and expertise in the health and benefits field.
• Excellent analytical, mathematical, strategic planning, communication, and listening skills.
• Proficiency in Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Ability to collaborate, lead teams, and deliver project objectives.
