Senior Engineering Manager (Machine Learning)

Location: San Mateo, California, United States; office-based roles are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday.

Salary: $345,040–$399,420 USD annual base pay, plus potential equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead and grow a high-performing team of machine learning engineers.
• Establish the long-term strategy for homepage machine learning models.
• Collaborate with ML platform, data science, and product teams to deliver state-of-the-art models.
• Oversee the end-to-end development and delivery of robust machine learning solutions.
• Mentor engineers and technical leaders through feedback and career development.
• Manage cross-functional projects and communicate progress, risks, and challenges to senior stakeholders.

Requirements

• 5+ years of engineering management experience and 8+ years building machine learning systems.
• Experience hiring, managing, and mentoring senior machine learning engineers and technical leaders.
• Deep knowledge of machine learning architecture, algorithms, lifecycle management, and data requirements for training, serving, and monitoring.
• Experience with state-of-the-art machine learning models and applying advanced ML solutions to product problems.
• Ability to define technical strategy and roadmaps in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
