Senior Software Engineer, Compute Cell Platform (Kubernetes/Go)

Location: San Mateo, California, United States; office-based roles require onsite presence Tuesday through Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday.

Salary: $243,290–$295,250 USD annual base pay, plus potential equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Build the Roblox-wide control plane using Kubernetes primitives and custom resources.
• Develop systems that enable engineers to create and deploy resources across a hybrid, multi-cluster Kubernetes environment.
• Design and maintain APIs, Kubernetes controllers, tooling, and user experiences for internal infrastructure customers.
• Collaborate across the infrastructure organization and support thousands of Roblox engineers.
• Write and review high-quality Go code and automated tests.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent field.
• Experience or strong interest in critical, large-scale distributed systems.
• Appreciation for observability, instrumentation, and developer tooling.
• For US-based roles, candidates must have US work authorization; future H-1B sponsorship may not be supported.
