Senior Software Engineer - Safety Experience (AI)

Location: United States; roles based at the San Mateo, California headquarters are onsite Tuesday through Thursday, with optional office presence Monday and Friday

Salary: $243,290–$295,250 USD annual base pay

What you will do

• Own the architecture and full lifecycle of complex full-stack safety labeling and investigative systems.
• Translate operational and product needs into scalable, extensible technical architectures.
• Define the architecture for next-generation safety applications using LLMs and agentic AI workflows.
• Build shared moderation primitives for compliance, quality assurance, traffic routing, workforce management, and AI-assisted labeling.
• Lead multi-quarter, cross-organizational initiatives and resolve technical dependencies and blockers.
• Mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and establish engineering standards across the safety platform.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software development experience and extensive full-stack engineering experience.
• Experience designing and implementing high-throughput distributed systems and microservices handling thousands of requests per second.
• Strong focus on user safety, data integrity, security, and compliance.
• Proficiency with multiple languages, frameworks, and technologies, including modern React, Golang, Python, relational or NoSQL databases, and cloud platforms.
• Experience with experimentation, usage metrics, and user interaction data analysis.
• US work authorization is required; future H-1B sponsorship may not be supported.

Nice to have

• Equivalent technical experience or a degree in computer science, applied mathematics, physics, engineering, statistics, or a related technical field.
• Experience building AI-centric solutions, machine learning systems, and agentic AI capabilities.
