Tech Lead (Scientific Software)

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end technical design and architecture for custom-built, customer-facing scientific software applications.
• Integrate digital solutions with laboratory and equipment software while ensuring alignment with business and enterprise architecture.
• Translate stakeholder and product requirements into technical tasks with clear acceptance criteria.
• Drive DevOps practices, CI/CD, monitoring, incident response, automation, reliability, scalability, and performance improvements.
• Maintain code quality, documentation, test coverage, and technical debt management.
• Mentor developers and coordinate with analysts, architects, designers, QA, operations, and other technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5–8+ years of experience designing, developing, and delivering enterprise-grade digital solutions, ideally for FAIR data capture and management in science, innovation, or laboratory environments.
• Deep expertise in solution architecture, integration patterns, APIs, cloud technologies, operational reliability, automation, and security.
• Hands-on coding or scripting experience with technologies such as Mendix, Databricks, Java, JavaScript, AWS, Python, and SQL.
• Experience with infrastructure as code, including AWS CDK or Terraform, and with implementing and operating DevOps practices.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, stakeholder management, communication, leadership, and technical mentoring skills.
