CFX Artist (Houdini)

Location: Toronto, Canada; hybrid

Salary: CAD 85,000–130,000 per year, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.

What you will do

• Create CFX for stylized and photorealistic CG characters and creatures.
• Develop believable effects that match the visual direction of each project.
• Build scalable, procedural, and team-friendly CFX setups.
• Work across advertising, long-form, and real-time projects.
• Collaborate with other artists and support production workflows.

Requirements

• Professional experience with Houdini.
• Proficiency with the Vellum Solver for cloth, feathers, and hair.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently.
• Ability to create strong procedural CFX setups.
• Flexibility and adaptability to new workflows.

Nice to have

• Experience with VEX.
• Knowledge of muscle workflows in Houdini 20.5 or 21.
• Interest in or previous experience managing and supporting other artists.
