Lead Engineer - Attendee Experience (Ruby on Rails)

Location: Dublin, Ireland; hybrid work with on-site responsibilities at events

What you will do

• Build and improve the attendee-facing web application before and during events.
• Work end to end with Product and Design, shipping small improvements frequently.
• Keep the application fast, reliable and safe to change while tens of thousands of people use it.
• Support engineer growth through clear expectations, feedback, pairing and delegated responsibility.
• Work on site at events, observe attendee behavior and use those insights to improve the product.

Requirements

• Strong Ruby on Rails and PostgreSQL experience.
• Comfort with server-rendered views and JavaScript where appropriate.
• Experience shipping and improving customer-facing software in small increments.
• Experience growing products from small building blocks while keeping the architecture manageable.
• Experience using tests, monitoring, staged rollouts and recovery plans to make production changes safe.
• Demonstrated ability to develop engineers through expectations, feedback, delegation and fair performance management.
