Program Director, Uganda

Location: Must be based in Kampala, Uganda; travel approximately 1–2 times per year to countries of operation for team retreats or field visits.

Base salary: $99,100 per year. Target performance bonus: approximately 15%. Annual benefits stipend: $8,453.

What you will do

• Lead day-to-day delivery of all Uganda programs, ensuring timely, efficient, high-quality, and impactful implementation.
• Build operational systems, standards, budgets, work plans, and program-level Budget vs. Actuals tracking for a growing portfolio.
• Identify bottlenecks, resolve cross-functional dependencies, and translate funding and partnership opportunities into viable delivery plans.
• Integrate product, evidence, and research initiatives into programs while maintaining coherence and scalability.
• Oversee program-level risk, safeguarding, compliance, procurement, and operational functions.
• Directly manage Senior Managers and serve as deputy and Acting Country Director when required.

Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant experience in nonprofit country management, organizational leadership, partnership development, program management, social entrepreneurship, consulting, or a related field.
• Track record of leading direct-delivery programs at scale, with increasing responsibility and demonstrated excellence.
• Advanced partnership capabilities, including new business, negotiation, and consortium management.
• Experience setting national-level strategy, managing teams, hiring, and building organizational capacity.
• Strong financial, risk, analytical, project management, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• English required; candidates must be based in Kampala, Uganda.
