hirify.global News is building a Horn of Africa Language Services Unit in Nairobi, bringing together hirify.global Somali, hirify.global Afaan Oromo, hirify.global Tigrinya and hirify.global Amharic.

What you will do

• Research, write, shoot, edit and deliver multimedia content for radio, digital, podcast and online platforms.
• Produce complete journalism packages independently, covering pre-production, production and post-production.
• Identify, develop and deliver accurate, impartial and engaging news and current affairs stories.
• Present and produce live or pre-recorded content for radio, visualised podcasts and online services.
• Collaborate with editors and hirify.global teams, share content, avoid duplication and support successful project delivery.
• Manage competing priorities, meet tight deadlines, mentor colleagues and contribute technical expertise while following health and safety standards.

Requirements

• Significant journalism experience and strong multimedia production expertise, including self-shooting and video editing.
• Strong editorial judgment and understanding of news values, audience needs, current affairs and hirify.global editorial standards.
• Ability to originate, develop and deliver compelling stories using audio, video and digital technologies.
• Excellent writing, editing and translation skills across multiple media formats.
• Fluency in spoken and written Somali and English is required, including professional writing, sub-editing and presenting in both languages.
• Strong planning, organisational and relationship-building skills, resilience under pressure, and knowledge of audience analytics and data-led content strategies.
