Senior Java Developer (iGaming)

Location: Birkirkara, Malta; hybrid working with 3 days in the office and 2 days from home

What you will do

• Design and develop live casino games and scalable backend microservices using Java and Spring.
• Deploy and manage game services on Kubernetes, optimizing resources and maintaining high availability.
• Build, deploy, and scale cloud-native services on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Implement WebSockets and other real-time communication technologies for interactive gameplay.
• Develop PostgreSQL and MongoDB data solutions and event-driven Kafka services using Outbox and Saga patterns.
• Collaborate with game designers, artists, and QA testers while maintaining code, API, and deployment documentation.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Java backend developer.
• Strong expertise in Java, Spring, and microservices architecture.
• Experience with Kubernetes, containerization, cloud platforms, and cloud-native technologies.
• Knowledge of WebSockets, SQL and NoSQL database design, and Kafka or similar integration tools.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, code reviews, monitoring, and logging.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, plus strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
