Staff Software Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Mexico City, in-office

Salary: MXN 160,000–180,000 per month

What you will do

• Design and deliver the most technically complex backend systems on the Mexico City roadmap.
• Own scope definition, architecture, and production reliability for critical systems.
• Set engineering standards, review critical code, and unblock engineers on complex technical problems.
• Identify architectural debt and create concrete remediation plans.
• Translate ambiguous product and business requirements into clear technical specifications.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through pairing, code review, and feedback.

Requirements

• 8+ years of backend software engineering experience with technical ownership of production systems.
• Experience operating at Staff or equivalent level and leading technical work across a team.
• Strong proficiency in Python, Go, or a comparable backend language.
• Deep experience with distributed systems, API design, and relational data modeling.
• Strong technical judgment and the ability to make decisions in ambiguous situations.
• Fluency in written English and availability to work in the Mexico City office.

Nice to have

• Experience in fintech, credit, or payments.
• Spanish language skills.
