Vehicle Safety - Occupant Protection Engineer (Autonomous Vehicles)

What you will do

• Own assigned occupant-protection load cases end-to-end, translating vehicle safety targets into testable metrics and driving restraint-system development through vehicle integration.
• Develop virtual and physical Design Verification Plans and track execution against project plans.
• Analyze crash-test results, provide feedback to engineering teams, and report at project gateways.
• Support system-level and full-vehicle testing by defining test requests, test matrices, instrumentation, and test targets.
• Document performance issues and track Jira tickets through resolution.
• Drive correlation between CAE results and physical tests for assigned load cases.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering and an interest in electric and autonomous mobility.
• 5+ years of experience in automotive development and testing, preferably in safety testing.
• Knowledge of FMVSS regulations and consumer safety protocols.
• Experience with virtual and physical safety testing, including HyperWorks and MetaPost analysis.
• Ability to build and script templates for data-integrity checks, results analysis, and reporting.
• Experience with 3D design and PLM tools; CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE or CATIA V5 is preferred.

Nice to have

• Project management experience.
• Experience with Jira, DFMEA, SFMEA, and requirements-management tools such as Polarion.
• Knowledge of Python and experience with LS-DYNA.
