Sr. Staff AI Security Engineer (AI Security)

Location: Remote-first role associated with offices in Draper, Utah and San Jose, California; applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.

San Jose base salary: $194,300–$243,000 USD annually. Draper base salary: $165,200–$206,600 USD annually.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate secure AI gateways and policy orchestration layers across multiple models and service providers.
• Configure endpoint security settings for AI tools with IT endpoint management solutions.
• Establish and lead an AI red-teaming practice covering prompt injection, jailbreaking, model extraction, and emerging attack vectors.
• Identify and mitigate risks involving model supply chains, data privacy, PII disclosure, model poisoning, and unauthorized fine-tuning.
• Automate security checks and guardrails while maintaining scalability, availability, and production performance.
• Own the AI security roadmap, advise senior leadership, mentor engineers, and provide vulnerability remediation guidance.

Requirements

• Proven experience building and scaling security systems in high-growth environments.
• High proficiency in Python or Go for security automation and tooling.
• Deep understanding of LLM attack vectors, including prompt injection and jailbreaking.
• Applied experience with the OWASP LLM Top 10 framework.
• Experience designing secure API gateways, orchestration layers, infrastructure-as-code solutions, and red-teaming programs.
• Background in computer science, cybersecurity, or a related technical field, with the ability to influence senior leadership and mentor engineers.
