Firmware Engineer II (Optical Networking)

What you will do

• Design, implement, test, and debug embedded firmware architecture.
• Write device drivers for complex ASICs, FPGAs, and other hardware components.
• Contribute to hardware design reviews and support initial hardware bring-up.
• Collaborate with optical, hardware, and test engineers to meet product goals.
• Develop automation scripts for firmware validation and product testing.
• Build user interfaces for transceiver assemblies and plugs and assist with manufacturing test fixtures.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Proficiency in C programming for embedded software and experience debugging software.
• Experience with real-time operating systems and ARM or other microcontrollers.
• Familiarity with UART, SPI, and I2C protocols.
• Ability to read schematics and use an oscilloscope.
• Must be authorized to work in Canada and work in-office in Ottawa.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with optical networking, including OTN and Gigabit Ethernet.
