Backend Engineer (Junior to Mid-Level) (Crypto)

Location: Hybrid in Taguig City, Metro Manila, Philippines

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and maintain Java-based microservices for the payment platform.
• Build features across acquiring, clearing, settlement, and ledger accounting.
• Improve reconciliation jobs, exception-handling flows, monitoring, and transaction accuracy.
• Integrate with banks, local payment methods, card networks, and international payment partners.
• Use AI-assisted development, testing, debugging, and prototyping tools.
• Troubleshoot production issues and improve system availability, scalability, and performance while collaborating with product, risk, finance, compliance, and regional engineering teams.

Requirements

• 1–5 years of professional backend development experience; strong graduates with relevant internships or projects may apply.
• Hands-on Java experience, preferably with Spring Boot.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Strong interest in AI coding tools, LLMs, AI APIs, or AI-powered projects.
• Proficiency in spoken and written Mandarin Chinese is required.
• Business-level English is required. Strong computer science fundamentals, problem-solving skills, ownership, and eagerness to learn are also expected.

Nice to have

• Experience in fintech, payments, banking, e-wallets, or crypto.
• Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis, Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Alibaba Cloud.
• Understanding of transaction consistency, idempotency, or reconciliation concepts.
